It’s a great start to the 2024-25 season for Timothy Weah as the USMNT winger scored his first ever goal in Serie A for Juventus. The American winger started the debut game of the Juventus season against Como and scored the the team’s second goal a few minutes before the end of the first half as Thiago Motta’s side raced out to an early lead in their debut against the newly-promoted team coached by Cesc Fabregas.

Motta made some surprising choices as the Bianconeri started with debutant Samuel Mbangula, who also scored the opening goal of the game and played alongside Weah, Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic in the attacking line. Weah became the 13th USMNT player to score a goal in more than one of the top 5 European leagues and the first to do so in both Ligue 1 and Serie A, according to Opta.

The Italian manager also decided to call back USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie in the squad, after he was left out of the project for the whole pre-season tour. McKennie, unlike others such as Italian winger Federico Chiesa, made it to the squad list ahead of the Como game and started on the bench. Weah and McKennie can now finally hope for a new era at Juventus.
