After opening its first center of expertise in Paris in 2020, Roquette Beauté is expanding its global footprint with the opening of a new co-creation hub in Shanghai, China. The is equipped with an application lab and a testing center, including sensory analysis capabilities, to support the development of formulations for makeup, haircare, skincare, and oral care applications.
Designed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the center will initially employ around ten technical experts in cosmetics, and will also rely on the expertise of the R&D Beauty team in Paris.
In practice, the center will primarily focus on skincare, which is the core demand in China. However, Roquette Beauté aims to leverage this hub to showcase the versatility of its ingredients across various formulations.
Growing demand for natural solutions
“Chinese consumers are increasingly looking for innovative, sustainable and effective cosmetic products, and we strongly believe that our expertise in plant-based ingredients will meet this growing demand,” Bénédicte Courel, CEO of Roquette Beauté, told Premium Beauty News.
“The center is strategically located in Shanghai, at the heart of one of China’s leading cosmetic hubs, enabling closer partnerships and collaborations with major global players as well as local start-ups,” the executive continued.
The opening of this center is part of the ongoing development of Roquette Beauté in China. The new facility should enable the company to strengthen its presence in a key region with strong growth potential for the market of plant-based cosmetic ingredients.
“Despite a slowdown in consumption in China since the Covid-19 pandemic, the Chinese market for natural cosmetics is booming and has enormous potential for the years to come. We are very optimistic about the evolution of this market in the coming years and our ability to play a major role alongside its main players,” added Bénédicte Courel.
The Roquette Beauté teams will participate in the PCHI 2025 trade fair, from February 19 to 21 in Guangzhou to present the new center and share more on this opening and corresponding opportunities with visitors.
