PhytoCellTec Exosomes: Mibelle's new generation of anti-aging

Highly sought after in Asia, exosomes —alongside NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) and NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) — are essential active ingredients in next-generation skin boosters, which aim to rapidly deliver hydration, radiance, and suppleness. As key mediators of intercellular communication, exosomes play a pivotal role in skin rejuvenation.

With PhytoCellTec Exosomes [1], Mibelle Biochemistry proposes to boost skin rejuvenation through plant stem cell-derived.

Dual action on the skin

As we age, our skin’s production of collagen and elastin decreases, leading to sagging skin most noticeably around the contours of the jawline and the breasts. PhytoCellTec Exosomes is designed to counteract these effects.

Exosomes are vesicles that are released from cells to enable cell-cell communication. According to Mibelle, the plant-derived exosomes brought from the outside by the new active ingredient directly act on the epidermis to strengthen the skin barrier. Furthermore, they increase the release of exosomes by mesenchymal stem cells inside the skin, which, in turn, improves extracellular matrix production in the dermis. Mesenchymal stem cells can improve collagen production and regenerate the skin through exosome-based communication with fibroblasts.

Thus, PhytoCellTec Exosomes works on both the epidermis and dermis. It shields the skin from external stressors and rejuvenates it by enhancing skin density and elasticity, reducing wrinkles, and reshaping the contours of the face and breasts.

Botanically-derived ingredient

PhytoCellTec Exosomes is derived from a plant stem cell culture of a goji seedling.

The plants of the superfruit goji (Lycium barbarum) are native to Southeast Europe and Asia. They belong to the nightshade family – just like tomatoes and potatoes – and they grow up to three meters high. The red-orange goji berries that are harvested from this plant are one of the most famous superfruits. Nowadays, goji berries are eaten all over the world, mostly in dried form, and there are various goji berry supplements on the market with the reported effect claims ranging from anti-aging, immune boosting and energizing to improved memory.

In vitro and in vivo studies

When treated in vitro with 1% Goji stem cell extract for a period of 24 hours, human mesenchymal stem cells increased their production of exosomes compared to the non-treated control.

In vitro studies shown visible effects on the skin appearance.

In a sample of 23 Caucasian women aged between 41 and 69 years, with visible signs of photoaging, daily application for 56 days of a formulation based on PhytoCellTec Exosomes (in a concentration of 0.4%) resulted in an 11% reduction in wrinkle depth compared to placebo and a visible improvement of fine wrinkles and deeper lines below the eyes.

In a sample of 67 Caucasian women (aged 39-70 years), application on the entire face and neck twice daily for 28 days of a formulation based on PhytoCellTec Exosomes (in a concentration of 0.4%) resulted in a “significant improvement of the oval face shape.

PhytoCellTec Exosomes is a water-soluble powder, free from preservatives and alcohol.

The new active ingredient won bronze in the “Best Active Ingredients” category at the Innovation Zone Awards competition during the in-cosmetics Global trade fair in Amsterdam.
