Storylines

Mexico: With El Tri struggling for years under various managers, it’s quite a moment for Aguirre and he hasn’t hesitated to make bold calls in this squad. Raul Jimenez, Hirving Lozano, and Guillermo Ochoa are all out of the squad with Mexico seeing what they have in other options around the squad. Edson Alvarez will also miss out due to recovering from injury, but there is still a pretty strong attack to face New Zealand and Canada in matches.

New Zealand: After impressing at the Olympics, this is a chance for New Zealand to show that they belong on the global stage. Mexico is a national team that is reelin,g but  New Zealand also has struggled outside of Oceana. While they’re unbeaten in five consecutive games, that doesn’t mean that their will be an easy match.

Prediction

Mexico will get a victory but it won’t mean a ton as only defeating Canada matters during this international window. Pick: Mexico 3, New Zealand 1
